Some Stray Thoughts on Gun control

Valuing Human Life

If you shoot a burglar, that means you value your property more than you value a human life.

If a burglar breaks into my home, knowing that I have or might have a gun, he knows that he's risking his life to steal my property, and he does it anyway. HE values my property more than he values his own life. I respect his decision and I will honor it.

My Feelings of Safety

Gun owners don't care that they are causing me fear for my safety.

That's correct, I don't care. Your feelings do not override my legal and constitutional rights. I've heard white people say that black people, especially big black men, scare them. Should all black people therefore be rounded up and locked in concentration camps where they can't scare any white people?

Disarming Gunowners

I've seen a lot of posts on social media to the effect of, What would a gun owner do if I disarmed him by force and turned his gun over to law enforcement?

That would be assault, stealing, and if you actually got his gun from him, illegal possession of a handgun. You do not have the right to steal property that other people legally own just because you don't think they should be allowed to own it. When you took the gun to the police and told them how you got it, you would be propmtly arrested. And presumably convicted based on your own confession to the police.

Assuming you actually managed to take his gun. Which is unlikely. If you tried to steal someone's gun, he would be totally justified in supposing that you intend to shoot him or someone else with it. And therefore he would be justified in shooting you in self-defense.

Assuming you actually have the guts to even try something like this. Which I doubt.

Cowardice

Gun owners are cowards. Why don't they defend themselves with their fists like a real man?

  1. Please demonstrate how this works. Lead by example. Go to the roughest, toughest gang hangout or bar in your town. Seek out some group of gang members who demonstrate their own cowardice by carrying guns. Find the meanest-looking one and tell him his girlfriend is ugly. Then overpower the entire gang using just your fists. When you do that, and show me video of the event, I'll believe you're seroius.
  2. By the same reasoning, people who own fire extinguishers are cowards who don't have the courage to put a fire out with their bare hands. People who own hammers are weaklings who don't have the strength to put in nails with their fists. People who own winter coats are sissies who don't have the courage to brave the cold wearing nothing but a wet t-shirt. Etc.
  3. In any case, this insult assumes that I care what some stranger on the Internet that I will probably never meet thinks about me. News flash: I don't care.

Endowment

Similar to the above, You just own a gun to make up for your small sex organ.

Yes. Because if I am ever attacked by a gang of thugs, I sincerely doubt I could fight them off with my sex organ.

If you're a beautiful girl who is seriously thinking of having sex with me, I might care about your opinion regarding my sexual prowess. Otherwise, I don't care. (And if you are a beautiful girl thinking of offering herself to me, my wife might object to that, making it a moot point.)

These attempts to shame gun owners by attacking our manliness are simply silly. We know that they're not real. You obviously have no idea about my virility. I'm not going to fall for these lame attempts at embarrassing me.
