The hypocrisy of American liberals is endlessly amusing.
Conservative writer Ann Coulter told a joke in which she indirectly referred to John Edwards, a Democrat presidential candidate, by a schoolyard insult which I'd rather not repeat here, but let's just say that it can mean "homosexual" or "sissy". More precisely, she was making fun of political correctness, and said that she would be "sent to rehab" if she were to call him by such a name. She was alluding to a recent case where a TV actor was pressured into rehab for using this word.
Liberals responded with absolute outrage.
What's funny is, right now there are two books on the market written by liberals attacking Ann Coulter. The title of one calls her "soulless" and the other "brainless".
Just a few weeks ago an on-line blog written by an employee of the very same John Edwards who is now so deeply offended included a joke about the conception of Christ that is far too crude to repeat here, with a punch line that if Mary had only used birth control Christians would have to "justify your misogyny with another ancient mythology". Another Edwards campaign worker called Christians "Christofascists". When Edwards was asked if he approved of this language, he replied, "They both said it was never their intention to malign anyone's faith, and I take them at their word." Oh. Okay then.
So calling Christians "misogynists" and "Christofascists" and making vulgar jokes about their faith is reasonable political discussion, but calling someone by fifth-grader insults is over the line? What is the principle here, except that liberals are entitled to reverence, but when attacking conservatives in general and Christians in particular, anything goes?

Dear Ann Coulter: Please Shut UpBy John Lofton, Editor, TheAmericanView.comI wish Ann Coulter would shut up. I know, I know – she won’t, as long as she breathes. But, this is my wish – that she shut up imlatiedemy. Utterly lacking in discretion and thus standing out as a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout (Proverbs 11:22) – and always wearing the attire of a harlot (Proverbs 7:10) – this disgusting female, who says she is a Christian, is now explaining, among other things, what Christians believe about Jews. She has said:— That “the Jews believe that my savior, a Jew, was a raving lunatic….” Not true. Some Jews no doubt believe this; some do not; others probably haven’t thought about our Lord. So, on this topic, there is no “the Jews.” And on this topic you will find interesting information when you Google the words “Jesus Babylonian Talmud Toldot.”— “And by the way, of all the religions out there in the world — Islam, Druidism, Global Warming religion — the only one Christians believe is true is Judaism.” Again, not true. In fact, this assertion is embarrassingly idiotic as anyone knows who knows anything about Christian teaching and what Judaism teaches.— Re: Jewish people who believe in Judaism and not Christianity: “We think they go to Heaven.”Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!None of these assertions by Coulter should really surprise us however. She has also said that her “ideal” America is (are you seated) “that I want everyone to be a Republican.”If Ann Coulter is a Christian, I am the King of England.** I am not the King of England.
